Video Games

by Karu Leonnese

Notes: Based off a pic done by Zarla for the raver fic with Vrummy and Xel playin' video games. ^.^ She got me back on a Slayers fix, and the mean peeps at FF.N Slayers group never wanna review my fics, so it's a present to her! This is just something weird me and my friend were RPing while playing Resident Evil. It's done in 3rd person limited POV of Vrummy (Read: ME).A bit of one-sided XelxVrum, but nothing that'll scar ya for life. XD Enjoy!

~*~*~*

Vrumugun sat down on the couch, feeling vaguely uncomfortable. He rarely visited others houses, and never felt really easily at home outside his own. Whether or not Xellos sensed this, he didn't know, because he never showed it, flopping down next to Vrumugun as if nothing were out of the ordinary.

"So, whatcha wanna do?" the purple-haired man asked.

Vrumugun answered with a shrug. "I do not really care."

Xellos wasn't phased in the least at this, and reached over to the video game console in front of the couch, switching it on and grabbing a controller. "You wanna play too?"

Vrumugun shook his head slightly. He didn't play video games much. He usually only played with Zangulus, which even then most of the time resulted in a lost battle with someone who knew every combo move in fighting games and every cheat code in others. "That is alright."

Xellos leaned over slightly. "Ya know Vru-chan, I'm only gonna let you back down once. Next time I ask, I'm taking you down in Guilty Gear X!"

Vrumugun frowned, remembering past battles. "I am not really good at those type of games. I have little doubt that you will not beat me."

Xellos stuck out his tongue at his friend. "C'mon! You're making this too easy! Put up a bit of a fight, I mean, jeez! Dontcha have ANY gaming pride?"

"I...I have gotten rather far in Kingdom Hearts...."

The other grinned. "There ya go! Although..." he poked Vrumugun slightly in the shoulder with an index finger, the usual ^.^ on his face, "I didn't really peg ya for the Disney type."

He wished he hadn't brought it up. he didn't really understand why he was caught up in RPGs of all sorts, and he didn't really feel like explaining the concept to Xellos of all people. Instead he watched him start up the game, which turned out to be Resident Evil. Vrumugun knew this as one of Zangulus' favorites, though he said nothing.

"Wanna see me rocket launch some zombies?" Xellos couldn't help but giggle at the prospect of the violence.

Vrumugun sat back on the sofa. "I have a feeling this will be a long night..." he muttered to no one in particular.

Xellos laughed upon hearing this. "You've no idea Vru-chan..."

***

As much as he hated to admit it, Vrumugun was actually beginning to enjoy the game. It had a slightly frightening atmosphere to it, and it was a little fun to watch the female lead blow a zombie to shreads in one shot. He hadn't said a lot during this time, instead just watching Xellos play. Without even realizing it, he was becoming more comfortable in the house, sitting cross-legged on his part of the sofa with a pillow resting on his lap.

Xellos, during this time, had done his fair share of yelling, maniacal giggling and sadistic actions toward the game cast. He was stuck at a rather annoying puzzle, and it made it even worse that he thought he should have been past it a long time ago.

"Light the first one last..." a whisper of a voice from Vrumugun said.

"Say what?"

The brunette continued, a bit louder. "Light the first torch last. Then the others won't go out."

Xellos shrugged and tried this. The strategy worked, and the purple-haired raver looked curiously at the other. "Good one. Looks like you're not so bad at video games after all!"

Vrumugun looked on with a slight shrug of his shoulders. Xellos had been playing for quite awhile, and just watching had made him rather tired. Xellos seemed to have an endless supply of energy, but the stressful day he had just expierenced had made him near exhausted. He continued to stare straight ahead, watching. Suddenly, the screen started getting a bit blurry. Vrumugun had little time to think about this, because soon he was asleep.

***

Vrumugun woke up in quiet and by himself on the sofa. He didn't know how long he'd been asleep, or where Xellos had went to. At first, he just thought Xellos had gone to bed, seeing as it was dark outside, but knowing Xellos, Vrumugun began to get paranoid, thinking he might be getting ready to play some prank. He wouldn't put it past him, that was for sure.

He sat in quiet. The game had been paused, so he knew that Xellos hadn't been away too long. There wasn't anything to do but wait, as he mused of what his companion might be up to. Just then, a loud yell came from behind him.

"BONZAI!!!!"

Vrumugun didn't even have time to blink before Xellos lept over the couch and plopped down, landing hard on Vrumugun's legs.

"Ahh! Xellos get off me!!!"

"BWAHA! Take no prisoners!!!" Xellos wiggled around, smashing down on poor Vrum's crushed legs even more.

Vrumugun winced as Xellos moved around, not only pushing one of his feet against the other, but sitting painfully on his shin bone. In a near-desperate attempt to get the purple-haired raver off him, he yanked on Xellos' shirtsleeve to try and pull him off, which only resulted in pulling him closer on top of him.

Xellos smirked almost evilly. "Why Vru-chan, I didn't know you were so forward!"

Vrumugun turned a bright shade of red. "Get off me!"

Xellos then wrapped his arms around his blushing friend. "Aww...I love you too Vrummy-chan!"

Vrumugun pushed Xellos onto the floor, but not before he could manage a quick sloppy kiss on the cheek.

The brunette gagged angrily. "XELLOS!!!!"

Xellos jumped from the floor back onto his section of the couch with lightning speed. "See Vru? That wasn't so hard now was it?"

Wiping the offending cheek furiously, Vrumugun glared at him. "That was totally uncalled for."

Xellos grinned a trademark smile. "Relax...it's only a game."

Before Vrumugun could reply, Xellos switched on the game again, not even looking at his friend's reaction.

"What do you mean by that?" he asked finally.

"Sore wa himistu desu..." came the sing-songey reply.

"Of course."

Xellos leaned over again. "You said it yourself Vru-chan...It's gonna be a long night."
