Aftermath:   A   Epilogue!

Hellodere! No doubt some of ya have been waitin fer me ta put up da Aftermath of da battle between Radic and Red. Well, finally it's here! May we all rejoice!

Epilogue: Part 1

Red walked along a dusty, beaten path, his Raticate walking alongside him. He laughed to himself as he remembered what happened. After Radic had tried to revive Accident, he had put it in a pokéball, and raced to a Pokécenter. Red had lost sight of him after that. Ratty waved his new grown tail. He had taken his own pokémon to the pokécenter. A different one of course. Red laughed out loud. Another glorious victory for the master trainer, Red! Then he looked serious, and then annoyed. This was the 4th time this week that Radic had challenged him to a pokébattle. And each time he had beaten Radic. It seemed that Radic never seemed to learn.
He did smile at the heart-broken look on Radic's face as he sobbed over his nearly-dead pokémon.
A sudden gust of wind brought Red back to reality. He looked up at the sky. It was rapidly clouding over. Concerned, he looked down at Ratty.
"Ratty, what do you think? Is it going to rain?"
The Raticate sniffed, it's huge whiskers quivering.
"Rrraticate." it said. Red nodded.
"C'mon, let's get as far away from that loser Radic before it rains. Maybe the lightning will Zap him to death!"
Ratty chittered. Red didn't really hate Radic so much he wanted him to die, but still, Radic was not his favorite person.
Especially-
A boom of thunder broke Red's thoughts. The Trainer turned his hat so it covered his eyes, covering his face with an arm as some raindrops spattered on him. Both him and the Raticate began running. The Rain fell down in fast, heavy sheets, and Red and Ratty were soaked in seconds. Surprisingly enough, the two found a tent.
"That's odd....a tent from nowhere...this is bound to be bad news, but I hate getting wet." he thought. The Raticate made a grumpy noise in consent. They went to the tent door, and peeked inside.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"RRRRRRRRAAAATICATE!"
"BLASTOISE!"
Radic and Red stared at eachother in surprise. Radic was the LAST person Red wanted to see! Red narrowed his eyes angrily.
"What the heck are you doing in MY TENT, Red?"
"Nothing! I'm leaving!"
Red turned fast and left out into the pouring rain. A crack of thunder burst in the sky, followed by a rumble of thunder. Red heard something from the tent.
"Rai rai rai RAICHU!"
Red growled. So Radic has his precious little Rai-chu out! How he HATED that stupid Raichu. He automatically grabbed a ball from his belt before he realized that he wasn't in battle anymore. Then he sheepishly put it back. He beckoned to Raticate, who hopped along next to him. The two took shelter under a leafy bow, but it wasn't waterproof, and water leaked in to drop annoyingly on Red and Ratty constantly. Red looked pensive.
"Hmmm...I can't believe this. My stupid Arch-enemy has a tent and I don't. Weird, huh Ratty? Wish we had a tent now."
The Raticate was curled up, trying to conserve heat.
"Rrraticate."
"Should we go ask him if we can stay?" he said to himself. Ratty looked inquisitively at him. Red thought, and began imagining a daydream.
Red and Ratty enter the tent.
"Hi, can we stay with you?"
"NO! GET OUT OF HERE NOW AND FREEZE TO DEATH WITH YOUR STUPID ARTICUNO!"
Red sighed. He doodled in the wet mud inaffectively.
"He would never let us in anyway, would he Ratty?"
The Raticate uncurled and sat in his lap, trying to comfort it's trainer. Red patted it's head absently. The Raticate was annoyed at how distracted he was. He nudged Red's elbow so forcefully that Red was knocked to the side. Red laughed.
"Fine Fine, I'll pet you, okay?"
Red smiled as Ratty made a contented noise as he petted it with a bit more focus.
"What do you think, Ratty? Should we swallow our pride and ask?"
The Raticate leaned upwards and licked Red's cheek. Red held it out at arm's length.
"Ah, you'd go with me no matter what I chose. Oh well, let's give it a try." Red said, sounding half sad about it. He let the Raticate down, and it pranced around him at the prospect of being dry soon. They made it soon to Radic's Tent. They looked in again. This time Radic was sitting around a small fire he had made, with Accident and Rai-chu out of their balls. Accident looked nervous around the fire, while Raichu beamed as Lightning struck outside. None of them looked happy as Red and his pokémon stuck their heads in.
"Uh...Radic?"
"What?" Radic said, sounding annoyed. Red looked embarrassed.
"It's...kinda wet out here....can we come in for a second?"
Radic considered for the longest time. He held his forehead as if he had a headache.
"Fine. But you sit over there, okay? Can't stand to have another trainer, no matter how evil, outside in the rain."
Red stifle the urge to yell at Radic. Him, Evil? It was Radic who was cruel! But nonethless, Red took a seat on the opposite side of the fire, with Ratty sitting next to him. They all listened to the rain pound on the outside of the tent. There was a growl next to Red, he noticed the Blastoise standing over Ratty, it's fangs bared. Ratty was growling itself, raising the fur on it's back as it remembered their intense fight...Red noticed the small scar on Accident's neck. He picked up Raticate and moved him over to his other side. Rai-chu, who was sitting next to Accident, began generating electricity around it's cheeks. It clenched it's paws angrily, it's lightning tipped tail lashing. Both Red and Ratty scooted as far away from the other pokémon as possible. They knew they weren't welcome.
Radic had his hat pulled over his eyes, so they were hidden from view. He was boiling something over the fire.
"What were you doing out in the rain? Celebrating your latest victory?" Radic said, his voice full of bitterness. Red rolled his eyes. Radic ALWAYS acted like this after battles with him.
"Do I look psychic? How was I supposed to know it was going to rain?"
Radic didn't respond. Instead, he took the pot he was boiling off the fire and poured it's contents into small shells. Red looked confused.
"What-"
"Shellder Shells....they do shed annually you know, mister Pokémon master." Radic said, sounding both hateful and superior. Red felt anger rising in him, and heard his Raticate hiss. He hoped this storm didn't last to long. Steam came off of Ratty's fur as he dried off. Radic passed the shells to his two pokémon, leaving two left. He set one in the corner, and took one himself. Red began salivating...he was so hungry. Ratty ran a long tongue over it's huge fangs.
"Can...can we have...maybe a little bit?" Red said, detesting having to admit that to Radic of all people. Radic wordlessly shoved to shells they're way. They drank quickly, letting the mixture warm them from the inside. They noticed a glimmer in the corner. They turned their attention to the blood red, sparkling eyes. The firelight glimmered eerily in the ruby red eyes...

Epilogue: Part 2

Red and Ratty watched silently as a large white pokémon made it's way into the fire light. It's nine tails lashed behind it's back. It sat up straight, looking both superior and hateful towards Ratty and Red. Kitsune the Ninetails looked down at them with a cold anger and vengefulness reflected into it's eyes by the fire. Kitsune stalked around the fire until it sat near Radic, laying down. It never took it's eyes off Red and Ratty for a minute. Red found the Ninetails gaze disconcerting. He fidgeted a bit. There was a boom of thunder from outside.
"RAICHU!" Rai-chu suddenly shouted happily, making Red jump. Ratty hissed angrily. Kitsune looked at Ratty over the fire from it's red, pupil-less eyes.
"Ninetails...Nine nine nine nine tails..." it said simply. Ratty tilted it's head to one side. Red was confused.
"What did it say?"
"It said...Something along the lines of "Be warned, something is going to happen.", I think." Radic said, looking at his pokémon. He sipped his soup slowly as he contemplated this odd message. The Ninetails often gave cryptic warnings...this one sounded ominous. A chill ran down Red's back, and Ratty's fur rose. Kitsune remained staring at the other trainer. Ratty and Red both looked skeptical. There was another flash of lightning, and Rai-chu waved it's tail gleefully. Then All the pokémon and the trainers perked their ears up. There was a sound from outside.
"Ratty, stay in here." Red said, grabbing an empty pokéball from his backpack.
"Accident, Rai-chu, Kitsune, wait until I come back." Radic said, grabbing his own pokéball from his backpack. The two trainers stared angrily at eachother, then both of them raced out of the tent.
The rain was coming down in sheets, it soaked them in seconds. Red shook water from his vision, trying to see what had made the noise.
He was right! In the middle of the rain stood a wounded and near faint Tauros! One of the few pokémon he didn't have! All he had to do was throw a pokéball...
"Tauros, Your mine!"
Red turned in surprise as he saw Radic run in front of him. Red shook his head angrily, skattering rain droplets in a shimmering shower around him. He shouted angrily.
"Tauros is MY Pokémon! I'M going to catch it!"
Radic turned to face him, his face angry and wet.
"Not if I can help it! This Pokémon is MINE!"
Radic raced off towards the wounded Tauros. Red ran after him angrily.
"NO! TAUROS IS MINE!"
"NEVER!"
Red fumed angrily, and then dove at Radic, tackling him from behind. The two rolled in the mud, rolling over and over as they began fighting.
"Mine! You are already ahead of me, Tauros deserves to be captured by a trainer like me!"
"You and your stupid pokémon don't deserve a strong pokemon like Tauros!"
A flash of lightning illuminated the two combatants. Both of their faces were angry and vengeful. They began taking out their frustration on eachother. The Two trainers fought madly on the ground, kicking up mud in flurries. Radic and Red's faces were smeared with mud, and their hands slipped and slid in the ground. The Tauros gave a distressed cry, as the Radic managed to stand about Red, who was laying on the ground. Radic raised the Pokeball he had been using as an inefficient weapon. Red had a trickle of blood running out of the side of his mouth, while Radic had a bleeding cut on his forehead. The Blood that ran down Radic's face was illuminated eerily as a shaft of Lightning split the air. Radic's Shirt was torn and mud stained, as was Red's.
"Now, Red, I will defeat you permanently! Then I, Radic, WILL BE THE BEST TRAINER!"
"Never!"
Red stood up and leapt on Radic, knocking him to the ground. The two somersaulted over and over, until Red grabbed Radic's jacket, and raised him off the muddy ground in anticipation of punching that insolent face. Rain pored off the combatants, making their clothes stick to their skin, and their hair hang limply in their faces. A flash of lightning lit the air. Radic lifted a leg and flipped Red off of him...
Off of a cliff!
As Red plummeted over the clifftop, he refused to let go of Radic's jacket. The two fighting trainers plummeted off the clifftop, both giving piercing screams of horror as the ground rapidly rushed towards them...

Epilogue: Part 3

Red screamed as the ground rushed towards them. He let go of Radic's jacket, and began flailing his arms wildly. There was a loud crunch.
Then Blackness.
Red opened his eyes groggily, not exactly sure where he was. There was still rain pouring down in sheets. He tried to move, but groaned in pain. What had happened? He noticed he was laying in the branch of a tree. He shifted a tiny bit, and the already weakened tree broke under him. Red fell the final couple of feet, splashing down in a large mud hole. He lay there for a while, until the pain went away, and he stood up.
"Where am I...I don't remember much of what happened..."he said to himself. He looked around, and noticed a glimpse of green jacket showing from a bush. He looked inside, and saw Radic, laying very still with multiple scratches on his face. He poked Radic experimentally.
"Hey...Hey wake up."
Radic also groaned, sitting up and holding his head.
"Where the heck are we..." Radic said softly. He crunched out of the bush. The Rain washed some of the blood from his face. Red narrowed his eyes.
"You knocked us off a cliff, you idiot!"
"ME? This isn't MY fault! This is all YOUR fault, you Moron!"
"My fault? It was MY TAUROS!"
"No, it was mine!"
"Don't make me beat you up again!"
"No, I was beating YOU up!"
Red stared angrily at his enemy. He reached down into his belt and tried to grab a pokéball. Then he realized his belt wasn't there!
He felt around his waist, but couldn't find it! Panicked, he began looking around frantically. Red noticed that under the scraps of Radic's jacket there was one pokéball left on his belt. Red looked around again. he noticed the belt on top of the tree he had fallen into. He stared at it sadly. He whirled around on Radic, who was hiding a smile.
"WHAT'S SO FUNNY?!"
"Nothing..." Radic giggled. Red looked at his hand and noticed he was still carrying a pokéball...the empty one he had wanted to capture Tauros with. Radic laughed openly. Red fumed. He raised the Pokéball into the air.
"GO, POKéBALL!"
He threw the pokéball, and it hit Radic in the face with a thunk. The Pokéball fell to the ground where it clacked open, it's beam trying to capture Radic, as if Radic were a pokémon, then finally giving up. Radic clamped his hands to his bruised face, kicking the pokéball into the bushes.
"OW! That HURT YOU STUPID-"
"I'll teach YOU to laugh at me! HEY!That was MY only pokéball!"
Radic kicked out with one foot, hitting Red in the chest. He was knocked over backwards, where Radic leaped on top of him. The two began fighting again. They rolled over and over in the wet grass, lightning iluminating the grim battle scene.
"Meowth!"
They both paused and looked up with surprised expressions, caught in their poses. Radic was poised above Radic, with a pokéball in his hand about to hit Red. The Meowth looked at them quizzicly.
"A Meowth! I never seen one before!" Red said, his eyes wide in amazement. Radic smiled with pride.
"I HAVE one."
"Well, soon I'LL have one!"
Red scrambled out from under Radic and jumped towards the Meowth.
"MEOWTH!" it cried surprised, leaping back. Red only got a faceful of mud. Meowth extended it's sharp claws, and slashed Red across the face. Three angry red scratches shone on Red's face as the Meowth ran away. Radic fell over with laughter.
"It's not funny!" Red said angrily, holding his face. "Ooooow!" he cried.

Back at the tent, Ratty and Accident had both perked up when their trainers had fallen over the cliff. They had a bad feeling about this...Raichu looked confused, and Nine-tails remained silent. Accident was about to get up and move, when the quicker Raichu sensed something too. Rai-chu and Ratty ran out into the rain. Lightning crackled around Raichu automatically, it waved it's tail. Ratty looked at it angrily, and they both ran to the edge of the Clifftop.
"RRRRRAAAATICAAAATE!" Ratty cried, trying to get loud enough so Red could hear it.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIII CHU!" Rai-chu screamed, crackling. It projected a lightning bolt into the air, where it exploded with a flare. Rai-chu got no response. The Two pokémon remained by the cliffedge, screaming and sending out lightning bolts until Ratty's throat was raw, and Rai-chu had no electricity left. Sadly, the two pokémon waited on the top of the cliff.

Radic looked upwards.
"I could of sworn I heard something..."
"Shut up and help me."
Radic automatically extended a hand to Red, who had fallen for the third time since they began walking. Then he took it back.
"I can't believe anyone could be as clumsy as you are!"
"I can't believe you let that colony of Pideotto's attack us."
"That was NOT my fault."
"Sure, Mister "I think I'll tramp right through a Pidgeotto nest, I'm sure it won't mind."
"Be that way. You can just stay in the mud where you belong!" Radic said angrily, walking away as quickly as he could. His tattered shirt billowed as a sudden gust of wind shook the trees. Radic turned and saw Red next to him again. Radic made a sound of disgust and then looked up at the sky, seeing a bright flash.
"See! Look! Something's happening up there!"
"Yeah, it's called lightning."
Radic glared at Red, who then looked surprised himself.
"I heard Ratty!"
"Sure."
"I did! It was calling to me!"
"Let's keep going, so we can climb up this stupid cliff you made us fall off of."
"ME? It was YOU, my friend, who did THAT, not me."
"Was not!"
"Was too!"
"Was not!"
"WAS TOO YOU MORON!"
"Was NOT YOU IDIOT!"
The two of them began fighting again. Radic and Red's faces were angry, each scratched and muddy. Radic had managed to get the advantage over Red, about to punch him from above, when Radic suddenly looked past Red's head and looked surprised. Red leaned his head back and found himself staring into angry red slit eyes, then moving his eyes up to the jewel in it's forehead and it's brown-black ears. He heard other growls around it, and then Red and Radic, still frozen where they were, looked around in fright as Persians gathered around them, trapping them in a circle. And the Persian's didn't look too happy...

Epilogue : Part 4

"This is all YOUR fault."
"ExCUSE me?"
The two trainers glared at eachother from their postions on the back of the Persians. The Persians, much like their Meowth counterparts, seemed adept at tying knots. The two trainers were tied up, and being carried somewhere. Red glared at Radic anyway, who looked very indignant.
"This is all YOUR fault. If you had let me catch that Tauros..."
"It was my Tauros, you big moron. Get over it, there are others."
"Stupid..." Red mumbled under his breath. Radic grew angry, but kept it to himself. The many glaring red scratches customary to Meowth and Persian claws almost glew on Radic's face as he clenched his teeth.
The two trainers were abruptly thrown forward. Red recalled in his mind how much he HATED Persians, ever since Radic's had stolen his money using Payday. He bet Radic still snickered stupidly to himself about how funny he looked. Red looked up, and noticed himself at the feet of a pokémon. Even though his hands were tied behind his back, he stood up angrily.
"Listen, you stupid-" he abruptly stopped when he realized what he was yelling at. The Alacazam waved it's spoon, and the Persians left. Red thought to himself. "So the Alacazam is controlling the Persians. ..." Radic got up too. He looked at Red surprised.
"Don't you have a Alacazam?"
"Um...no..."
"They're very...very dangerous."
The two trainers stared at the Alacazam, who was holding two spoons in it's paws. Red cocked his head to one side.
"Why's it carry two spoons?"
"I think it symbolizes it's psychic power."
"I can't believe this, you knocked us off a cliff, got us into a beedrill AND Pideotto attack, and NOW we're going to be mind warped by this-"
"HEY! I did NOT knock us off a cliff! YOU did that!"
"Did not!"
The Alacazam pointed at Radic, energy gathering around it's spoon. Radic looked terrified.
"Aaaa! Psybeam!"
"What?"
"It's a really powerful attack, my Alacazam has it."
"What's it do?"
Radic looked at Radic as if he was mentally retarded.
"It AFFECTS YOUR MIND, You IDIOT!"
"Don't call ME an Idiot!"
A sudden flash of power erupted from the spoon, and a beam of psychihc energy shot out. Radic tried to duck, but the beam followed him. At the last minute, he jumped upwards, and the beam hit him in the heart, and not the head. He was knocked backwards into a tree. He slumped over, his eyes shut tight. He then remained where he was, knocked unconcious. Red noticed the Alacazam pointing at him.
"OH NO You don't!"
He ran forward suddenly and kicked the spoon out of the Alacazam's paw. It flew through the air in a shimmering circle, and then chunked down handle first in the mud. The Alacazam's eyes flashed red as it stared at the pokémon trainer. it raised it's other spoon. Suddenly everything got all wavy...and there was a gradually building pain in it's head. It increased and increased until his head felt like it was going to explode. Red screamed in pain, and then fell over, unconcious, stars exploding in his vision. Psychic was a devastating attack.

Rai-chu looked downwards, sensing the powerful brain waves. It's head began to hurt.Ratty, however, was too angry. It knew it's trainer was hurt. There were rumbling thumps as a huge form came up behind them. Accident gleamed in the rain. Raichu ran back to the tent to tell the others what happened as Accident and Ratty stared at eachother in hatred.
"Rrrrrraticate! Rrrrrrraticatecate!" (Red and Your trainer are in trouble!)
"Blastoise...blastoise!" (I'm going to help them.)
The Blastoise leaped off the cliff edge, curling itself into it's massive shell. It began sliding down. Ratty leaped from the clifftop, and flew through the air. In the sleating rain it was hard to tell where anything was. It managed to land on Accident's shell. The two of them crashed through bush and tree until the splashed into a pile of mud. As the Blastoise staggered out, it's mud-covered body also sported an unsightly lump. The Lump shook itself, and Stood up, revealing it's gleaming fangs.
"RRRRRRRATICATE!" The lump cried. It leaped down. Accident continued to move though the forest, regardless of branch or tree, as Ratty followed behind it.

Epilogue: Part 5

Red was surronded in blackness, feeling his body get pricked all over with what felt like needles. He opened his eyes slowly, blinking a few times. The darkness faded away. "I can't believe it's still raining..."he thought to himself. Angry red scratches glew on his face as the rain irritated them.
"Where ARE we?" Red looked around. He tried to scratch his nose, only he couldn't move his arms...
He looked up, and noticed that his hands were tied! He followed the rope with his eyes, where he found it was tied to a tree. He kicked his feet, and found they barely scraped the ground. That's why he couldn't feel his arms. He noticed Radic next to him, unconcious. Red kicked Radic non too gently.
"HEY! Wake UP!"
"OW!"
Radic did wake up, and he looked mad.
"I'll show YOU!"
Red watched as Radic discovered he couldn't move his hands. Instead, Radic kicked back. The two of them kicked back and forth for a short time. They noticed another trainer step from the bushes. This ones hair was in short, sharp, spikes, going all over his head in strange patterns. Even in rain it was still spiky. He was wearing a simple vest, much like Radic and Red were wearing, and had a small pendent, what seemed like a spike from a SandSlash. The two trainers stared silently at the other trainer.
"My name is Myk."
"WHO CARES!" Red shouted angrily. He noticed a silver glint, and saw the Alacazam walk from the bushes. Red looked embarrassed and shut up. Radic laughed for a moment before Myk silenced them.
"Look, I don't know why you're here, or why your in such bad shape, but apparently you were bothering Merlin." Myk said. He patted his Alacazam on the head.
"Did you tie us up?" Radic said angrily. Red mocked him cruelly.
"Did you tie us UP? What kind of STUPID question is THAT? Of COURSE he did!"
"Why don't YOU shut up!"
"BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!"
Radic and Red stared surprised at Myk. Myk coughed.
"Ahem...well, I came upon you two after Merlin hit you with some psychic attacks..."
Radic groaned as he remembered. "And I was just thinking how this could work to my liking." Myk smiled, holding out a single pokéball.
"See, I need more pokémon, so I thought I'd liberate yours. Pity you only had one between the two of you. Seems highly unusual."
Radic grew intensely angry. "YOU GIVE THAT BACK, YOU-"
Myk strode forward quickly and grabbed the front of Radic's shirt. Pulling Radic up to Myk's height, he shoved the pokéball into Radic's line of sight.
"You're in no position to call names or make bargains. This pokémon of yours is mine now, because of your carelessness."
Radic tried to kick out at Myk, but Myk only pushed Radic backwards, where he swung into a tree with a thud. Myk then laughed, and flipping the pokéball to himself, began heading off. Red narrowed his eyes.
"I swear, no one's honest these days."
Radic tried to stop swinging.
"Darn it, now I'm going to have to get another pokéball for Accident."
Red did a double take.
"Wait wait wait...You mean-"
"Yeah...that was Accident's empty pokéball. And you probably thought I had a pokémon in it! Bwa ha ha!"
Red kicked at Radic's face. Radic dodged, and began swinging back and forth.
"NOW what are you doing?"
"Maybe If I keep scraping this rope back and forth, it'll break!"
"That will never work."
"Will."
"Won't."
"Will."
"Won't."
"Will."
"Look, THIS is how you get loose from some ropes." Red said angrily, and began swinging towards Radic.
"You got a pocketknife on you anywhere?"
"Yeah, it's in my vest pocket."
"Okay, hold VERY still."
Red kept swinging, then suddenly kicked Radic in the chest. Radic let out a swift exhalation of air.
"BWA HA HA! You FELL FOR IT! HA HA HA! IDIOT!"
Radic grew an angry red, highlighting the glowing scratches on his face. He wiggled his hands.
"I'm beginning to lose feelings to my hands."
"Me too."
Radic resumed swinginf back and forth. While on the backswing, he extended one foot and kicked Red hard in the back. The two began fighting again in earnest.

Accident sniffed the air, while Ratty sat on it's back and let the mud run off it's coat. It had no idea where they were, and it doubted Accident knew either. Tracking would be difficult...

Epilogue: Part 6

After a lively kicking match, the two trainers hung exhausted and bruised. Red listened annoyed as raindrops kept hitting the brim of his hat, causing an annoying noise. The rain was also irritating the scratches on Red's face. They were glowing as the effect of Meowth claws was strengthened.
"This is all your fault." Red said angrily to Radic. Radic was about to reply when a sudden flash of lightning and a boom of thunder interrupted their thoughts. The two of them stopped moving, each of them thinking their own thoughts.

Accident and Ratty lumbered through the forest, sniffing and poking at things. Ratty constantly went off by itself to investigate some odd noises, while Accident carefully and slowly looked everywhere.
"RRRRRRRRATICATE!"
Accident looked up, and stomped towards the noise. Ratty had found them.

Red face brightened as he saw Ratty hop into the middle of the clearing.
"RATTY!" he cried ecstatically, "Ratty, I'm so glad to see you! Get me down, quick!"
The Raticate nodded, and climbed the tree quickly. It sniffed where the rope was attached to the branch, and began nibbling with it's sharp fangs. Red fell a couple feet as the rope snapped. Radic kicked frantically.
"HEY! WHAT ABOUT ME!?"
Red considered for a moment, letting Ratty bite away the rope around his hands. Apparently the rope tying his hands together and the rope that held him up were two seperate things. he rubbed his cold blue hands thankfully as blood began circulating back into them.He looked at Ratty, then at Radic.
"Weeeelll....okay Ratty. Go up and let him down too."
"Rrrraticaaaate...." Ratty said grumpily, and shot up the tree again. Red tried to spot Ratty in the branches, but couldn't see him. He shrugged and walked underneath Radic. The rope that was holding Radic up broke with a sudden snap, and Radic fell a few feet. Red held out his arms and caught him. The two of them seemed surprised, then Red let Radic down. he began searching around Radic's pockets, and found Radic's pocketknife. He slashed the ropes that still held Radic hands together. Radic flexed his hands happily and began blowing on them, trying to warm them. Red looked at Radic annoyed.
"You don't BLOW on them, you idiot, you rub them together, like this."
Red said, and grabbed Radic's hands, rubbing them together roughly. Radic was staring intently at Red, as if trying to think of something that he couldn't quite realize. Then he pulled his hands away. Red turned his head suddenly as he heard a crashing in the bushes.
"ACCIDENT!" Radic cried joyfully. The Blastoise burst through the bushes, letting out a roar of happiness.
"Blaaaaastoooooise!"
The Blastoise picked up Radic easily and hugged him joyfully. Radic hugged back to the best of his ability. Red watched detached from a distance, with Ratty next to him.
"Hey Ratty, If you were as big as Accident was, would you pick me up?"
Ratty laughed, then shook it's head No. Accident let Radic down, and he stared at Red curiously. The tattered shreds of his clothing stuck to his body, the scratches on his face glowing much like Red's. They began heading off in one direction, trying to find their way back.
"Hey, those scratches on your face are an improvement." Red said meanly.
"Why thank yo-...HEY! WAIT A MINUTE!"
Sounds of their intense arguing echoed through the forest, as behind them their pokémon argued almost as fiercely as their trainers did.

Epilogue: Part 7

Radic and Red eventually found themselves at the base of a tall cliff.
"Well, at least we found the cliff."
"Well, how do we get UP it, Genius?"
"I don't know, you knocked us off it!"
"DID NOT!"
"Rrrrraticate!"
The two trainers stared at Ratty as it hopped around excitedly.
"What is it?" Red asked. The Raticate went into a long and amusing series of crys of "Rrrraticate!" Red could hear Radic giggling behind him. He fumed, but calmed himself down. Ratty climbed up onto his shoulder, sitting and staring at Accident, who was standing behind Radic.
"Ratty said that there's an easier path by the side."
Radic looked doubtful, but followed Red. Ratty pointed out an incline which wasn't quite as steep as the cliff was. It was covered in grass, slippery and wet.
"Well, it looks easier then the cliff does." Radic said, and began walking upwards. Suddenly he lost his footing on the wet grass and slid back down. Red laughed at him for a while. Radic's face turned red, highlighting the Persian scratches on his face, and took out a length of rope from his backpack.
"Where'd you get that?"
"It was the rope we were tied up with."
Red wished he had thought of that while Radic was tying the ropes together. He cast them towards a tree off to the left of the path. It caught on one of the branches. he began making his way upwards, using the rope as a stabalizer whenever he fell. He made it to the tree, where he waved down.
"It works!" he said, and he tossed the rope down while keeping a firm grip on the tree. Red called up to him.
"What about Accident? Isn't it a bit heavy?"
Radic looked surprised for a moment.
"Oh yeah...you're right. Well, I'll put it in it's pokéball!"
Red held his head as if he had a headache.
"You don't HAVE it's pokéball with you anymore. Remember? Myk stole it?"
Radic groaned as this realization sunk in.
"What can we do?"
"Maybe it can make it up by itself."
"Blaaastoisee..." Accident said, and began trying to make it's way up the grassy cliff. it sank it's claws deep into the ground, pulling itself upwards while ripping out great chunks of earth. it managed to make it to the tree, where it braced itself and panted.
Red grabbed the rope and began pulling himself upwards, while Ratty kept a firm grip on his shoulder. When he slipped, Ratty's claws dug painfully into his shoulder, but he kept on going. He finally made it to the tree, where Ratty pulled itself away with a squelch.
"Are you alright?" Radic asked, with concern in his normally bitter voice.
"No, I'm not alright, does it look like I'm alright?" Red panted, trying to keep his footing. Suddenly his foot slipped, and he could feel himself sliding backwards. Then he felt a hand grab his. It felt smooth and familiar....
"Radic!"
"Hang on!"
Radic's other hand was held by his Blastoise. He carefully pulled upwards, dragging Red to the back of the tree where he could sit safely. He tried to regain his breath after the adrenaline rush he had gotten.
"Why....Why did you do that?"
"Huh?" Radic looked confused.
"I thought you wanted to be the great pokémon master..."
"I do."
"And that would involve getting rid of me, right?"
Radic considered for a moment.
"Well, yeah I guess...."
"So why didn't you just let me fall?"
Radic remained quiet for a long time.
"I...I don't know. it was an impulse I guess."
Red gave Radic a weird look, and Radic stared off into the pouring rain. He untied the rope from the tree branch, throwing it upwards towards another tree. It again caught on a branch, this one a bit thinner then the first one. Radic began pulling himself upwards, blinking furiously as rain hit his eyes. A sudden boom of thunder made him crouch down.
"Be careful..." Red thought to himself, then he looked confused.
"Why in the world am I telling him to be careful?....I know, it's because if he falls, I won't have someone to tell me if it's safe up there or not..." Red tried to make himself believe his fake excuse, but he knew there was something else that was making him concerned...

A bright flash of lightning lit the air, half blinding him. Radic slipped on the rope, hanging by one hand. Red leaped up.
"Be Careful, Radic!" He shouted before he even knew what he was doing. Radic laboriously put one hand on the rope again, and tried to pull himself upright. His feet slipped, and he kicked as he tried to get upright. Finally he managed to stand on the hill, and keep moving upwards. He reached the tree, sliding behind it so he could catch his breath.
Red peered through the rain, trying to see where Radic had gone. A rope suddenly swung into his vision and smaked him in the face.
"OW!"
"Sorry, thought you were watching!" Radic called from behind the tree. Red grumbled and grabbed the rope. Ratty leaped on his shoulder again this time, and Red braced himself as he started to make his way upwards. Again Ratty's claws dug through his shirt as a boom of thunder caused his feet to slip. He managed to make it upwards without any further incidents.
Radic was behind the tree when Red came behind it too. Radic stared at the growing red stain under Red's shirt.
"That's new." Radic said sarcastically.
"Ratty did it."
"How?"
"Whenever I slipped, it would dig it's claws right here," Red pointed to his shoulder, "and it does it so strong that it pierces the skin."
Red watched confused as Radic seemed to want to say something, but then didn't. Red watched as Radic peered from around the tree.
"AAAAACCCIDEEEEENNNT!" He cried. There was a rumble from below, and then sounds of thudding pawsteps as the Blastoise made it's way up the hill. It managed to make it up to the tree. It hung onto a branch as it tried to catch it's breath. Radic looked uphill.
"Hmm..."
"What?"
"There's no more trees on the hill from here. We're going to have to lasso that rock over there."
"A ROCK?"
"Yeah, right over there." Radic said pointing.
"THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Red shouted angrily. "You'll get yourself KILLED!"
There was an awkward silence as Red looked embarrassed and covered his mouth. He hadn't MEANT to say that! Radic looked at him, also confused, and grabbed the rope. It took him two tries to get the lasso over the sharp jutting rock. Radic looked at Red.
"Wish me luck!" he said cheerfully, making a peace sign. He began climbing the hill.
"How can you be so cheerful in a time like this..." Red thought to himself, still puzzling over what he had said.

Epilogue: Part 8

Since the rock was off to the right a little bit, When Radic grabbed the rope, he swung to the right. He swung back and forth in the rain as he tried to hang on. He was at a almost vertical slope. His feet scrabbled as he tried to get footholds. Red watched concerned.
Radic's foot slipped, and he hung by only the power in his arms. Before Red could say anything, there was a roar from behind him, and Accident thundered up the slope. The Blastoise pushed itself upwards, extending it's neck to the best of it's ability. Radic managed to use Accident's head a stepping stone, and got another foot hold. After that, Accident was always below Radic, pushing him upwards when he slipped. Finally Radic rolled to the top of the rock, where he panted and rested. He dropped the rope, and Red took it in his hands. He wasn't sure if he could do this....
Ratty leaped up and climbed onto his shoulder again. The Raticate wrapped itself around Red's shoulder, using it's claws to keep it's balance. Red Wrapped the rope around his foot, took a deep breath, and jumped.
Just like Radic did, he swung over to the right for a couple moments, but then stopped. He began to climb very very slowly. His arms burned even though he was beginning to lose feeling in them because of the frigid rain. Ratty squealed when Red lost his footing once during a flash of thunder. Keeping in mind that Ratty was counting on him, Red kept moving upwards. Radic's face looked at him from his position on the rock. Red kept going upwards, moving one hand above the other, over and over, grunting as he forced his weakening muscles onward. Ratty began crawling around his shoulders as a rumble of thunder shook the air.
"Ratty, stay still!" Red hissed between his teeth. Ratty crawled on top of his hat, and perched there. Red strove to keep going. He tried to keep his foot on a small outjutting rock as he tried to find another for his other foot. As he shifted his weight from one foot to the other, the rock his foot was on snapped, and he abruptly lost his footing. Hanging only by his hurting arms, he felt the weight from his head become loose, and he knew Ratty had slipped off his hat.
"RATTY!" Red cried. He let go with both his hands. Luckily the rope was wrapped around his foot, and he fell over backwards swiftly. He grabbed Ratty by it's middle, and hung upside down. Ratty squealed in pain, but stopped struggling. He tried to push himself upwards so he could reach the rope. he managed to grab on with one hand, but he knew it wasn't enough.
"RED, Grab onto the rope!"
"I can't! Ratty..."
"Red, get another handhold or you'll fall!"
Red didn't answer, but tried to lift Ratty. His aching muscles didn't want to comply, but he raised Ratty inch by inch. The Raticate grabbed the edge of his vest with it's tiny claws. He could feel the rope sliding between his fingers, causing burns. He grabbed with his other hand, but he could feel himself falling. Ratty climbed up onto his shoulder and sunk it's claws into his skin. Red made a short noise of pain, and he could feel his arm become less and less inclined to reply. He managed to make another foothold, and tried to pull himself upwards. He could see a vague shape in his rain-blurred eyes.
"Grab my hand!" he could hear Radic's voice call from what seemed far away. He lifted one hand and tried hard to hang on, but could feel himself slipping. He had one choice....
With one swift movement, he grabbed Ratty by it's neck fur and tore it from his shoulder. he then shoved it into Radic's hand. Then he grabbed the rope with the hand he had used, ubt he knew he couldn't hang onto to the rain slicked voice. He felt his fingers losing their grip, and he felt the rope slide from his grasp.
Red fell.

Epilogue: Part 9

Ratty gave an aunguished screech as it saw it's trainer fall through the torrent of rain. Radic tried hard to hang onto the slippery pokémon, but it was struggling and crying in a fitful way. Ratty bit onto Radic's arm with it's sharp fangs, but Radic refused to let go. Blinking away tears, the Raticate watched Red fall into the sweeping rain.
Red was falling almost vertically, because of the sudden increase in steepness near the rock. He hit the side of the hill and bounced off, crashing through a bush. He rolled and bounced down the hill, hitting rocks and crashing through bushes on his way. He never once cried out.

Radic had watched with horror-filled eyes as Red had fallen through the rain. He felt a strong claw holding onto his shoulder, and looked back to see his Blastoise hanging onto him.
"Accident, let me go. I have to see if he's okay." Radic said, a bit harsher then he meant. Accident shook his head No. Radic tried to squirm away from Accident's grasp, but it was too strong.
Clutching Radic to it's chest, the Blastoise began to climb upwards. Radic relieved his tension by holding onto Red's frenzied and panicked Raticate. He kept staring downwards, trying to see Red, but only seeing a blearing and impenetrable darkness. A flash of light lit the air, and for a moment, Radic thought he saw something. It was probably only his imagination. He tried not to think about what happened, but couldn't help it. He could see Red falling over and over and over in his mind...as if it was on endless replay...

Red spalshed down into a ravine, flooded and swollen with water. The unmoving form was swept away, apparently unconcious to what was happening around it. Pokémon in the water, Dratini's, Staryu's, Goldeen's, and Magikarps swam around the body, trying to find their own way to a slower moving body of water. The ravine gushed over an edge, and Red flew over it, only to land in the mud and slid a few feet. The Trainer remained still, seemingly ignorant of the mud flecking his face. A Magikarp in a nearby pool tried to Splash him with water, but he seemed oblivious to everything around him. Rain pelted him constantly and unmercifully, soaking Red through his weak clothes and making him bone-chillingly cold. The unmoving body lay in the middle of a rain soaked and mud stained field, one bright flash of green and white in an unending world of darkness and greys.

Accident pulled itself over the edge, dragging Radic along with it. Near the end of his journey Radic had begun struggling, but now was becoming a bit more accepting. He noticed a movement to his side, and looked over curiously. He saw that the Tauros was still laying on the grass, it's three tails only twitching now and then. Radic got up slowly and walked back to his tent. The Nine tails suddenly tackled him from in front, but he didn't seem to notice. The Raichu clamored around his neck, but the only thing Radic was looking for was Red's bag. He pawed through it, finding a pokéball. Holding it solemnly, he walked outside into the rain, and held it above the Tauros in a ritualistic manner. His hand quievered, and the pokéball rolled off his fingers and landed on the Tauros, where the familiar energies surronded it and pulled it into the pokéball. He watched with half lidded eyes, as the red light on the front went on and off. The pokéball made the customary noises. Ding...Ding...Ding....the pokéball stopped moving.

Instead of celebrating, Radic walked to the edge of the cliff, where he held the pokéball in his hands, staring down at it. he didn't even notice Ratty running back and forth rapidly by the edge, looking down frantically for a way down without certain death. Radic stared at the ball, remembering the fights him and Red had...the battles...when they first started....
"It was yours anyway...."Radic said finally. He stared at the pokéball for the longest time, and then let it drop. It hit the steep incline of the cliff, then began rolling downwards. Radic stared after it.
"Enjoy your last catch..." he said quietly, then he abruptly fell to the ground, crying. Accident placed a massive claw on his back, trying to comfort him.

Epilogue : Chapter 10

The pokéball Radic had dropped rolled down the cliff, gaining speed. It hit a outjutting rock, bouncing high into the air. It twirled as it began it's long descent. It crashed through the trees.
CLONK!
The Pokéball thudded into the back of Red's head. Bursting open, the wounded Tauros stood clumsily on it's hooves, trying to figure out where it was. It noticed Red.
Since the Tauros had been put in Red's pokéball, it knew Red was it's master. It nudged Red with it's nose, but Red remained unmoving.
Giving what could be interpreted as a shrug, it dug it's head under Red and flipped him onto it's back. Picking up it's pokéball in it's teeth, the Tauros began trotting off, shifting slightly as Red began slipping. The Tauros had to find some help.

Radic was trying to work. He was packing up his tent in anticipation of moving. Kitsune and Rai-chu were in their Pokéballs, and his belt was replenished. Deprived of it's pokéball, Accident remained out, watching the area carefully. Ratty was still running back and forth along the cliffedge, but Accident always grabbed it before it could jump off.
Radic was rolling up his sleeping bag when Red popped into his mind. He tried to push the thought away, fearing he would start to cry, but he couldn't think of much else. He angrily shoved the Sleeping bag in his backpack and shouldered it roughly. He couldn't think about Red right now. He had to keep going. He had to fulfill his dream. But he wasn't sure if that was still his dream anymore. Being a pokémon master seemed to lose it's appeal for him...ever since Red...
Radic pushed away that train of thought angrily. He couldn't think about that now. His Pokémon were counting on him...just like Ratty was counting on-
Radic held his head angrily. Why couldn't he stop thinking about it?
He made an angry noise, and then looked surprised when Accident poked it's head into the tent to see what was wrong.
"Blastoise?"
"I'm fine Accident." Radic said, waving it off.
"Blas blas blas toise..."
"Ratty? What about it?"
"Blas toise toise?"
Radic walked out into the rain, but only was wet for a moment, because Accident's massive paw was above him, sheltering him from the rain.
"That's a good question Accident. What DO we do with Ratty? He would never join with us..." Radic said. Accident shrugged.
"RRRRRATICATE! RRRRATICATE!"
Radic tried to shut his ears against the constant screaming and wailing of Ratty as it mourned it's trainers dissapearance. He dove for Ratty as the Raticate tried to jump off the cliff again. He caught it by it's tail, and then dragged it back up.
"We can't leave it alone, Accident. It'll do something stupid."
Accident shrugged again. Radic grabbed some rope from his bag, trying to avoid the memories associated with it, and tied Ratty to a tree. It wasn't easy, Ratty was struggling and biting, but Ratty was worn out from all the exertion. Radic put his hands on his hips and stared at his handiwork.
"What do you think Accident? Will that hold it?"
Accident looked doubtful, but nodded. Radic then went to the tent and folded it up into a small compact disk. He put it back in his backpack, and he started to walk back to the path. But something was bothering him. He found himself walking back to the cliff. He stared over the edge, getting vertigo from staring at the raindrops falling down into the black abyss. For a moment he saw Red....falling...
Radic angrily shook his head and jumped up. He sniffed as if holding back tears, then ran as fast as he could from the cliff, followed by the thumping steps of his blastoise behind him.

The Tauros was glancing at a intersection sign, written in pokéspeak. It adjusted it's weight as Red shifted, and then resumed reading. It took a sudden right turn, the unconcious trainer on top of it's back. It trotted briskly along the path until it came to a cave.
"Taurooooooos!" it cried, shotuing into the cave's narrow opening.
"CHANSEY!" an angry cry rang from the cave. The Tauros and the Chansey had lengthy conversation, mainly in which the Tauros seemed to be apologizing, until the Chansey noticed Red on the Tauros's back. It quickly pulled it off, much to the Tauro's relief. The Chansey paced around Red's body, poking at it.
"Tauros Tautauros?" (Translation: Fix Master?)
"Chansey..."(Translation: Don't know....)
The two pokémon stared at Red's inert body, the Chansey's face already showing the first signs of hopelessness.

Epilogue: Final Chapter

"Chansey Chansey..." (Meowth scratches) the Chansey said, pointing to the glowing red scars on Red's face. The Tauros nodded silently. The Chansey seemed to be gathering energy into itself, glowing with a greenish blue light. The Tauros stepped back, frightened. The Chansey's eyes were concentrating, shut tight, a look of intense focus and determination on it's face. The Light intensified, collecting around the egg held in the pouch on it's stomach. The egg glew red and blue and yellow, a veritable rainbow of colors mixing and intermixing around the egg. The egg floated over Red's body, the energy flowing downwards in a smooth, even column. The Energy poured down further and further, while the Chansey began loosing it's own energy. The Tauros was alarmed by this strange occurence, but stayed close. The Chansey seemed to grow weaker and weaker. The Energy exploded outwards in one final burst, then the egg returned to the pouch. The Chansey sat down and fell asleep immediantly.
Red was in agony. His whole body was racked with waves of pain that travelled his body non-stop. He opened his eyes, only to have Raindrops fall in them. He groaned and sat up, holding his head.
Where was he? What the heck was going on...
The Tauros pranced around happily, and then butted Red roughly in the back. Red was bowled over with a surprised gasp. Red lept to his feet, feeling the Chansey's energy flow through him. He looked at his hands in surprise.
"Am I really alive..." he asked himself. He looked around curiously, utterly lost. He then knew why he felt so uncomfortable. Ratty was missing. Where was Ratty...
Red couldn't remember anything from when they started to climb the cliff. He picture Ratty in his mind, and felt his heart tug with longing. He wished he could see Ratty...but there was something else nagging in his mind that he wanted to see too...
For the first time he noticed the Tauro's staring at him expectantly.
"Where did YOU come from?" he asked th Tauro's. The Tauro's didn't answer, but wagged it's three tails the best it could, limping on one hoof. He held a hand to his aching head and thought.
There was something about a Tauros...that was important....what was it? He felt in one of his jacket pockets and took out his pokédex.
"List all pokémon I caught."
The pokédex listed in it's mechanical voice a long line of pokémon names and nicknames. Red sighed as he heard Ratty's species come Second, after his squirtle. He pointed the pokédex at the Tauros.
"Pokémon is newest addition to team." The pokédex said.
He had caught this Tauros? How? He noticed the pokéball in it's mouth, and removed it. It had his familiar name scratched into it, but he didn't understand why he wouldn't remember what happened with the Tauros.
"Um....Tauros return..."he said hesitantly. The Tauros flashed into a beam of white light and was sucked into the pokéball. He stared at it in wonder, flinching as his hand gave a twinge of pain from some large scratch that was on it. He looked himself over. What had happened to him? He patted the pokéball affectionatly.
"I'll think of a nickname later..." he said to it. There was a small ding. He reached down to put the pokéball on his belt, then stopped. His belt was missing. Now he was REALLY confused. Ignoring the Chansey, he began walking in a direction, not sure of where he was going.
The Chansey panted on the rock, it's breathing becoming short and distant. There was long pauses in-between breaths. It had given it it's all...it had given Red all it's energy in a attempt to bring him back. Now...it was too weak even to give one last cry.
Silently, the Chansey breathed it's last, then it's heart beat no more. No one saw it die.

Back

People have heard Radic and Red argue times.
