Poe the Hoothoot was the first Pokémon that Radic encountered in Johto, and the first that awoke the Feeling. While they were battling, Poe accidentally switched mental places with Radic in a panic while trying to defend himself. This gave Radic the rare opportunity to see the Pokémon in front of him, thus cementing Poe as the first of his Johto team. Poe was also one of the ones that Radic called upon most often, since his limited psychic abilities gave Radic precious moments of sight.

Poe has been and probably always will be a huge drama queen. He's hysterical and prone to panicking at almost anything without any provocation. When frightened, he screeches and begins flying as fast as he can in any direction away, which more than once has ended up with him running into a wall or the ceiling.

Despite his high-strung nature, Poe isn't necessarily a coward, and will fight bravely if he has to. He's just extremely, extremely neurotic and almost anything will upset him. Fidgety and easily startled, Poe is mostly unpredictable. He is absolutely terrified of Ice, Rock, or Electric types, and the sight of one will usually send him into a fit. This makes double battling with him extremely difficult, and in fact battling with him at all tends to be a mess, since Poe doesn't listen to directions while he's freaking out. Then again, Radic has had a lot of experience with Pokémon not listening to him.

Poe's psychic abilities are fairly developed, although it's for the rather specific purpose of switching places with Radic when he asks. He's not particularly attached to any members of his team, but he's very close to Radic, mostly because Radic hasn't abandoned him for someone less high maintenance. The longer Poe spends with Radic, the more indebted he feels towards him for keeping him there. After all, Poe isn't entirely unaware that he's difficult to manage. The other Pokémon on his team tend to make that clear. He just... can't control himself. He doesn't make friends easily, partly because he can be very judgmental.

In Johto, Poe had Hypnosis, Fly, Dream Eater, and Confusion.
