Kitsune   -   Ninetales

Kitsune Kitsune was caught and trained by someone else before meeting with Radic. Her previous trainer was an insufferably sarcastic and cynical girl with dark hair and glasses. Like most Pokémon, Kitsune took on aspects of her trainer's personality, gaining her cruel sense of humor and general disillusionment with the world. Together the two mocked everything and everyone they met. They waged war against a world they both hated, but more importantly, a world they felt hated them. They fought together, but with full knowledge of what they fought against, and over time that can wear anyone down. Kitsune and her trainer became more and more depressed with each passing day, convinced that nothing would ever get better, that there would be anything out there worthwhile. They reflected each other's opinions back to the other, validating and repeating them until they became an impenetrable mantra of gloom and cynicism.

Finally, her trainer realized that if she and Kitsune stayed together for much longer, their depression would become so deep and so strong that it could never be shaken, and the prospect of suicide would become remarkably tempting in such a state. Unwilling to lose her only friend or herself to such a fate, she discussed her thoughts with Kitsune and they made an agreement. To save each other, they would part ways. She released Kitsune and the two of them swore never to forget the other, and that was the last that Kitsune ever saw of her. To this day, Kitsune has never found her again, and no one knows where she is.

Despite the fact she had agreed to her trainer's proposition, Kitsune was overcome with grief at losing her. Her old trainer was the only person she had ever cared about, even if she had rarely shown it.

The two of them blocked out the world by allowing no emotions through their misanthropic personas, and she relied on this in her darkest time. She refused to show her pain and hid any hurt she felt beneath the weapon she had so keenly honed with her trainer over so much time: her sarcasm. This became something that Kitsune would grow to rely on more and more, and would eventually become how she dealt with everything in her life.

Radic and Accident found the Vulpix underneath a bush in the rain and after a short battle took her to be healed. However, Kitsune showed no difference in her apathetic behavior after being healed, which confused Radic. He left her with Callima, the only one she seemed to tolerate, hoping that Callima could find out what was wrong.

Finding that Callima was the only one who would listen, Kitsune told her what happened and made her promise to keep it a secret. She agreed, and Kitsune reluctantly joined with Radic, more in the hopes of finding her old trainer again than any fondness for the boy at first. Midnite Blaze

Kitsune disliked most of the other members of her team, finding them idiotic or overbearing. She only tolerated Accident, Callima, and Chan of Takachan, finding them the only worthwhile Pokémon in their group.

She grew to intensely dislike Ruby, whose egotistical and pompous behavior irritated her. Kitsune also wasn't fond of Nova, who acted as if the world revolved around him. Kitsune never liked egotistical Pokémon, and she takes particular joy in taking them down a few pegs whenever she can. They're her preferred targets when bored, and to this day she still torments them relentlessly with cruel comments and jokes.

While traveling, Radic and the others eventually found themselves in a cave covered with elemental stones. Kitsune had no desire whatsoever to evolve, something that Radic respected, and avoided the stones like the plague, until an Arcanine attacked them.

Accident was their only hope, but he was knocked to one side as the battle began. One by one Radic's Pokémon failed to defeat the Arcanine, and Kitsune ended up being their last resort. The Vulpix insulted the Arcanine to the extent that, enraged, it followed her to the edge of the lava pit they were fighting near, then it was easy to trick the Arcanine over the edge.

However, the Arcanine decided it wanted to take Accident with it. Although Kitsune wouldn't have admitted it, she felt somewhat protective of Accident and wasn't about to let him fall. She grabbed his paw and pulled as hard as she could, but she slid across the floor, losing her ground quickly. In the process, she slid across a fire stone and evolved accidentally, refusing to let go even as her body changed around her.

With Nova and Taka's help, she pulled Accident from death at the expense of her Vulpix body, something which she still somewhat resents. She has no real fondness for Arcanines as a result of this experience, and is not very fond of volcanoes either.

Kitsune is still one of Radic's most cherished Pokémon, despite the fact that she causes almost nothing but trouble for him. Kitsune is vicious, cruel, sarcastic, and mean, and she takes great pleasure in tormenting other Pokémon to the point of violence. She enjoys watching other Pokémon lose control due to her carefully pointed comments. She does take joy in enraging others in various ways, although causing physical pain is something she finds beneath her. Inflicting emotional pain through caustic words is her preferred challenge and her favorite hobby, and this has caused Radic no end of trouble. Most of the battles that Radic has engaged in are somehow Kitsune's fault, and she feels little regret for starting them.

To an extent, other Pokémon are her playthings, toys for her amusement, and she enjoys getting them riled up. She treats absolutely no one with respect, regardless of type or history, and pays little attention to types she'd be weak against. Anything is fair game to her, from appearance to accessories to behavior. There are rare occasions where Kitsune will show some restraint, but most of the time she does what she wants and lets the others clean up the mess. Not to say that Kitsune won't fight if attacked, but generally she tries to avoid doing so.

The only Pokémon that Kitsune considers mostly off-limits is Accident, and she does not tease him like she does the others. It's the only thing that seems too cruel to her, and she actually feels fairly protective towards him, something she'd never admit out loud.

Although they've worked together for a long time, she still feels little love for most of her teammates, although she will fight for them if she thinks they're in danger of being killed. And while she usually never makes it openly known, she does feel fond of Radic and will fight to protect him. She doesn't trust him to take care of himself most of the time, but like with all aspects of her life, Kitsune never openly states her feelings. Her fondness for Pokémon or people is only apparent in the amount of mean or cruel remarks she makes towards them.

Kitsune won't listen to Radic if she thinks he's wrong, and she often disobeys his orders in battle. Her first reaction to meeting someone, anyone, of any type, is to make fun of them. This of course makes her disliked by almost every Pokémon she meets, including most of Radic's other Pokémon, but she doesn't particularly care.

Because she was evolved so early and unexpectedly, her moveset is fairly limited. The only fire move she knew at the time was Ember, for example. Radic eventually gave her two TMs to try and round out her moveset, and currently she has Fire Blast, Toxic, Swift, and Ember.

In general, Kitsune is confident in her own abilities, as well as confident that she's right in most situations. Her mockery is deserved, because other Pokémon are mockworthy. Her voice is quiet and calmly malicious. While she can get depressed at times at thoughts of her old trainer, Kitsune mostly gets through life with a cruel smile and a few choice words.

Still, somewhere deep inside as Radic and his Pokémon explore every new region, some part of her hopes that she'll see her old trainer again. The thing is, if she did find her again, she's not sure what she would do...

Kitsune is in fics where Radic's Pokémon come into play, particularly Veni Vidi Vici and Nemo Me Impune Lacessit.

Kitsune has been mentioned in some fics.
